Abstract:
the current study sought to shed light on the Efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah in Preserving and Protecting Heritage Properties of All kinds, especially Tangible Cultural Properties, both Tangible and intangible (intangible), as well as its Efforts in Building and Developing Culture and Heritage Awareness among Citizens. the Study focused on Cultural and Information Institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah, which host Heritage Collections, with the aim of Identifying their Plans to Preserve and Protect their Collections, in addition to their Societal Role, which is Represented by their Contribution as a key party to the Emirate’s Strategy related to Building and Developing Awareness and Heritage Culture for Citizens. the Study Focused on examples of the three Categories of these Institutions, Represented by the Museum Institutions affiliated with the Sharjah Heritage Authority, the Houses and Heritage Bookstores, which were Represented in the Current Study by the House of Islamic Manuscripts affiliated with Al Qasimia University, and the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi House of Historical Studies. As for the third Category, it was Represented by In the Current Study, the Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority. the Study Concluded with Several Results, which served as an Indicator of the extent of the Effectiveness of the Institutions sampled in the Study in Performing the Functional and Societal Role assigned to them.
