A study of some behavioral changes resulting from the application of some irrigation water rationalization methods among farmers in Qalyubia Governorate

Abstract

The research mainly aimed to study some behavioral changes resulting from the application of some irrigation water rationalization methods by farmers in Qalyubia Governorate by identifying the levels of behavior components (knowledge and practices) related to farmers’ use of some irrigation water rationalization methods in Qalyubia Governorate, and to identify the relationship between the components of behavior (knowledge).  , and practices) related to farmers' use of some irrigation water rationalization methods and between the studied independent variables.
     The data was collected through apersonal interview questionnaire form during the last quarter of 2022 for a random sample of 260 respondents in Qalyubia Governorate, and the data was presented, processed and analyzed by the tabular presentation with frequencies, percentages, arithmetic averages, standard deviation, Pearson's simple correlation coefficient, and the model  Correlative and multiple regression, and the data were analyzed using the statistical analysis program "SPSS".
The most important results indicated:

A little more than two-thirds of the respondents had a moderate to great degree of knowledge of some irrigation water rationalization methods.
The vast majority of the respondents were practicing in the medium to high category.
The total degree of knowledge was significantly related to each of: the age, the degree of education of the respondent, the area of ​​agricultural holding, the degree of farmers' awareness of the existence of a water crisis in Egypt, the degree of willingness to take risks, the quantity of acre production in tons, the cost of acre production in pounds, and the degree of achieving economic aspects.
The total degree of practice has a significant relationship with each of: the age, the degree of education of the respondent, the area of ​​agricultural holding, the degree of farmers’ awareness of the existence of a water crisis in Egypt, the degree of requirements for applying irrigation water rationalization methods, the degree of willingness to take risks, the amount of acre production in tons, and the acre production costs. In pounds, and the degree of realization of economic aspects.
