Abstract

The study aimed to explore the role of integrating target costing and the balanced scorecard in supporting the competitiveness of Egyptian commercial banks. 
A questionnaire was prepared containing a set of questions to test the validity of the study's hypotheses. This questionnaire was applied to a sample from the study population, which included categories such as (accountants, internal auditors, financial managers, and pricing department officers), with a total of 80 individuals, 20 from each category, distributed across ten Egyptian commercial banks.
The study reached several key findings, including:

A statistically significant relationship exists between the application of target costing and the support of competitiveness in Egyptian commercial banks.
A statistically significant relationship exists between the application of the balanced scorecard and the support of competitiveness in Egyptian commercial banks.
A statistically significant relationship exists between the integration of target costing, the balanced scorecard, and the support of competitiveness in Egyptian commercial banks.

The study provided several recommendations, the most important of which are the necessity for Egyptian commercial banks to apply both target costing and the balanced scorecard and to work on integrating them to achieve quality, reduce the cost of services offered, and thus achieve their objectives and enhance their competitiveness.
