Psychometric properties of the emotional regulation scale for university students

Abstract

This research aims to prepare a measure of emotional regulation among a sample of university students. It was prepared by the researcher. The measure of emotional regulation was applied to (433) male and female students from the Faculty of Education, Benha University, whose ages ranged between (18-25) years. The scale items were prepared and validated using the Likert method, and the number of scale items in its final form was (10) items. The psychometric properties of the emotional regulation scale were verified using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis to verify the validity of the scale, and using the McDonald Omega stability coefficient method to verify the stability of the scale, The results showed that the scale had a high degree of validity. Accordingly, the scale had an acceptable degree of validity and reliability for psychological and educational measurement tools. The results also showed that the scale items had a high degree of internal consistency.
