Factor structure of university students' cognitive beliefs

Abstract

The research aims to design a scale to estimate the level of cognitive beliefs among university students and to verify the psychometric properties of the cognitive beliefs scale. The research sample consisted of (200) male and female students from the Faculty of Specific Education, Benha University, from various specializations (educational technology - computer - home economics - educational media - early childhood and education - music education - art education - educational theater), with a standard deviation of (37.2), and a chronological age of (19.34). The cognitive beliefs scale was applied to them with its various dimensions, which are (certainty of knowledge - source of knowledge - structure of knowledge - justification of knowledge) with (32) phrases, and each dimension included (8) phrases that measure this dimension. The validity of the cognitive beliefs scale for university students was verified in addition to verifying the stability of the cognitive beliefs scale for university students.
